Jose Antonio Rodriguez....

was born in 1957 in Havana, Cuba. (If you name all the great things that happened in '57, he always said that he was one of them! ) He relocated with his family ( mom, dad and sister ) to Florida at the age of 3.
Jose married his wife, Beth, in 1983, had 2 boys and moved to Colorado in 1991. He was most proud of his sons. They both have his fun-loving personality and the gift of being kind hearted. Jose worked at many fun and interesting jobs while living in Colorado. His last one was with Colorado Mountain News Media, where they print the Vail Daily Newspaper. One of his main interests throughout his life has been motorcycles. He started with dirt bikes and slowly graduated to the street bike where he was finally able to become a "Harley Rider".

In April of 2008, Jose became seriously ill with double pneumonia and developed complications that put him in Intensive Care for 6 weeks. This poker run was originally organized to assist his family with the medical expenses that were accumulating at that time. The funds received during last year's poker run did just that and we want to thank everyone that participated for their contributions. Jose passed away in June of 2008 at the age of 50.

There have been inquiries as to whether we were planning future poker runs. His family has decided  because of the overwhelming interest and the success of the last 2 years, they would like to continue with the tradition raising money in Jose's name for charities they feel would benefit. This year, the funds are being divided between Breast Cancer Awareness and the Vail Valley Charitable Fund ( they assist families or individuals that are in need due to unexpected medical crisis').

Jose loved his poker runs especially when they lead him to new and different places he had never been before. The camaraderie of being with other riders and the way a pack of bikes thundered off together thrilled his heart. The way we all see it, this is a great way to meet new friends, see the Colorado high country and help those who are less fortunate than us. A true WIN WIN situation!

Hope to see everyone there!

Let's Ride!!!!!!
